Head of the River Race 2019

Senior men

The best conditions in 20 years graced the crew of 2019 eights head. We again entered a top boat and a novice boat. The 1v was aiming for a top 100 finish, we came 112th with a time of 19:38, finishing just behind Exeter university C.

Novice men

Excited to be part of such a large and prestigious race the boys got quite the spectacle during

marshalling getting to watch all the top crews in the country and the Chinese national team race off

down the first part of the course. It would be the boys longest race yet and despite intense erg

training a few were still worried about going out too hard. Nerves were calmed though and via

some careful coxing calls the adrenaline was suppressed enough to give the boys a rapid start but

setting a pace that was able to be maintained. After an extremely long effort the boys were glad to

finish the race with a respectable time and commence a leisurely row back through the glorious

sun. The novice boat finished 275th with a time of 22:31, beating local rivals ICSM, QM and RVC novices.
