Men's Head Coach 17/18

Barts and The London BC consists of a growing team of medical, dental and allied health course students. The club is looking to develop further from the recent years growth and success, with both sides of the club looking to perform at an even higher level. The club has a rich history as a hospital boat club dating back to 1844; and have competed at Henley on numerous occasions.

The men’s team have significantly improved over the last few years with with 4 members competing at Henley 2017 as part of the United Hospitals BC; these athletes alongside 4 others also competed at Marlow and Metropolitan regatta. We have three senior men's VIII's that enter tideway competitions and British Rowing events. We would like to continue to improve with each new season.

Our main goals for the upcoming season are:

  • Qualification for Henley Royal Regatta
  • Strong performances at BUCS and BR events including Metropolitan and Marlow regatta
  • Top 150 finish at HORR
  • Finish top of the United Hospitals league

Barts and The London Men’s Boat Club are seeking to partner with a part-time coach of graduate or similar level. This would be someone looking to develop his or her coaching abilities and help the men’s side of the club to work to it’s full potential. Payment for said work is negotiable and will be agreed upon following discussion.

The coach will be expected to look after the senior team but will have a main focus on the first and second boats. Training takes place on Saturday mornings and weekday evenings (exact timings to be discussed). We would expect the coach to be in charge of crew selection and attend water sessions for both the first and second boats; the water training will be supplemented by a land training program. We expect the coach to run all sessions according to the necessary health and safety rules of the club. Tideway experience is desirable.
